The market's initial level was supported by steady demand from the construction, metallurgical and chemical industries, with the state-influenced company DOLVAP, s.r.o. being a key producer supplying lime and aggregate products. Production began to decline from 2019, a trend that continued into 2020 and 2021 as the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted global supply chains and logistics, impacting manufacturing schedules and raw material availability for Slovak producers.

From the start of 2024, amendments to nature protection laws, including Vyhláška MŽP SR č. 423/2024 Z.z., introduced stricter environmental conditions for limestone extraction and processing, shaping the operating landscape for the industry's recovery in that year.
