ECOWAS has seen lettuce and chicory production rise for the second year in a row. In 2020, the region produced 472.1 thousand tonnes, marking a solid 23.0% year-on-year increase. Over the 2017-2020 period, production grew by 46%, with an average annual growth rate of 13.5%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2018 at 314.1 thousand tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 2.8%.
