Between 2018 and 2019, production of lard and poultry fats increased from 4 568 t to 5 054 t. This growth was primarily driven by a sharp rise in pork production, particularly in the Far North region where output expanded by 118.2% between 2018 and 2019, offsetting ongoing declines in poultry meat output in some areas. In 2020, production fell to 4 509 t as the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted supply chains and poultry production continued to decrease.

A strong rebound occurred in 2021, with production jumping 29.2% to 5 827 t. This surge was fueled by an 18% annual increase in broiler chicken production, stimulated by higher imports of chicks and hatching eggs. Growth continued at a more moderate pace, reaching 6 359 t by 2023, supported by sustained investments in feed mills—such as the NJS group's plant in Bafoussam—and the ongoing expansion of both pork and poultry sectors, despite African swine fever becoming endemic.

Middle Africa's production of lard and poultry fats saw a two-year increase before declining. In 2019, output reached its peak at 5 054 tonnes, representing a significant 10.6% growth. However, by 2020, production had fallen to 4 509 tonnes, marking a 10.8% decrease compared to the previous year.

The lowest point was in 2017, while the peak occurred in 2018 at 69 188 kilograms, marking a 926.4% increase.
