The Azerbaijani fresh kiwifruit market displayed a general upward trend from 3 368 t in 2018 to 4 378 t in 2023, despite periodic fluctuations. A notable contraction to 3 152 t occurred in 2019, followed by a sharp recovery to 4 169 t in 2020. After a slight correction in 2021, the market resumed growth, reaching 3 885 t in 2022 and then 4 378 t in 2023.

Underlying this market expansion was a rapid rise in domestic production, which increased more than threefold from 207 t to 765 t over the six-year span. Imports, which constitute the bulk of supply, were volatile, peaking at 4 148 t in 2020. Concurrently, export volumes grew significantly from a low base, reaching 425 t in 2023 and thereby influencing the net available volume.

The overall market growth of approximately 30% between 2018 and 2023 was characterized by these countervailing forces: strong gains in local output and variable import levels, which together shaped the final consumption volume.

Azerbaijan's kiwifruit production grew for the third consecutive year. In 2021, the country produced 384.8 tonnes of kiwifruit, marking a sharp 35.0% increase from the previous year. From 2018 to 2021, production rose by 86.2%, which translates to an annualized growth rate of 23.0%.
