Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2020, the Russian fastener market remained stable at around 600 K t. This period was characterized by sanctions pressure and a policy of import substitution, which reduced reliance on imports as state-owned and private companies actively expanded domestic production. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 caused temporary supply and logistics disruptions, but government support measures helped maintain industrial output.

The market surged to 698.8 K t in 2021, driven by rising demand from the construction and machinery sectors. New labeling and certification requirements were also introduced to improve product quality and safety. However, in 2022, tightened sanctions and import restrictions led to a significant market decline to 618.1 K t, despite ongoing development of domestic high-strength fastener production and further regulatory changes.

A strong recovery followed, with the market reaching 808.5 K t in 2024. This growth was fueled by dynamic expansion in construction, particularly in individual housing projects, and by increasing demand for supply chain stability and locally produced fasteners. Domestic production expanded notably, peaking at 395.0 K t in 2024 before declining to 328.8 K t in 2025.
