Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2021, the production and market volume of insecticides in Russia showed consistent growth. This expansion was driven by the overall increase in pesticide manufacturing within the country, with insecticide output rising as part of a broader industry trend. Although the sector remained fully dependent on imported active ingredients, domestic production capacities were scaled up, supported by the growing market for crop protection products.

A sharp contraction occurred in 2022, as market volume and production fell significantly. This downturn was primarily caused by severe disruptions to global supply chains and the exit of major international players like Corteva and FMC from the Russian market, which constrained availability. By 2023, the market began to recover as the earlier shortage of active ingredients, stemming from an energy crisis in China, was resolved, allowing sales and production to rebound.

Growth in production continued through 2024 and into 2025. This was fueled by manufacturers introducing new insecticide formulations to meet specific consumer demands, particularly the rising interest in acaricides for fruit crops and vineyards, which increased the share of insecticides in total pesticide output.
