Earlier Report Observations

The European honey market experienced notable fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. Market volume declined from 590 thousand tons in 2018 to 490 thousand tons in 2020, then rebounded to 594 thousand tons in 2022 before easing to 540 thousand tons in 2023.

In 2024, rainy weather conditions in key producing regions led to lower honey yields per beehive. Consumer preferences continued to shift towards organic and specialty honeys, supporting premium segments, while new EU packaging regulations began affecting the food retail supply chain.
