The Syrian grape market volume expanded from 227.5 thousand tons in 2018 to 259.6 thousand tons in 2019. This growth was supported by the entry of new companies into the agricultural sector and an increased reliance on cultivating French grape varieties in areas like Latakia, which offered higher yields and earlier production cycles. However, economic sanctions that impacted small and medium-sized enterprises, coupled with difficulties in obtaining agricultural financing and importing necessary inputs, led to a contraction in market volume to 245.5 thousand tons by 2020.

A more severe decline followed in 2021, with the market shrinking to 209.0 thousand tons as the ongoing sanctions continued to restrain the growth of agricultural businesses. Recovery began in 2022, with the market volume rising to 228.1 thousand tons, partly aided by the promise of new thermal power generation for Aleppo, which improved energy availability for agricultural operations. The market continued to grow, reaching 233.3 thousand tons in 2023, coinciding with the Ministry of Agriculture's active plans to increase cultivated areas and modernize irrigation systems to enhance crop production.
