The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 caused a sharp 31% contraction in market volume to 4 371 thousand liters due to global restrictions and reduced tourism. Recovery remained slow in 2021 with volume stabilizing at 4 344 thousand liters, but in 2022 the market surged by 59% to 6 915 thousand liters, driven by major distribution investments exceeding USD 200 million into the Indian Ocean region and active export promotion by local players. In 2023, market volume declined to 4 696 thousand liters.
