The goat meat market in Syria showed fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. Starting at 11 140 tons in 2018, the market volume edged down to 10 959 tons the following year. This minor contraction occurred alongside reported declines in consumer demand for meat and rising goat meat prices, influenced by local economic conditions and the stability of the dollar exchange rate which affected pricing.

Market volume then jumped by 9.9% to 12 043 tons in 2020, marking the period's peak, before falling sharply by 12.8% to 10 505 tons in 2021. A recovery followed over the next two years, with volume reaching 11 012 tons in 2022 and 11 802 tons in 2023. The growth in 2023 was supported by government measures to develop the livestock sector, including programs specifically aimed at supporting Syrian goat breeding.
