From 2018 to 2019, goat meat production in Kyrgyzstan remained stable at around 10 000 t, with no specific restrictions affecting the market. In 2020, despite the introduction of VAT exemptions for certain animal feed raw materials, which indirectly supported production costs, output dipped slightly to 9 835 t.

The following year, production recovered to 9 897 t, bolstered by the continuation of a state program supporting the meat cluster, which provided targeted subsidies and soft loans to farmers raising goats. However, in 2022, production fell more sharply to 9 408 t, a decline that coincided with heightened veterinary controls on meat imports due to disease outbreaks in neighboring countries, even though direct imports of goat meat were negligible. By 2023, production stabilized at approximately 9 300 t, supported by a broader 2% increase in the country's total meat output and a growing population of sheep and goats.

In 2024, authorities launched a pilot meat cluster project in the Chui Region and Bishkek, offering preferential loans to goat farmers aimed at boosting domestic production. Simultaneously, Kyrgyzstan's overall meat production rose by 2.6%, with sheep and goat meat accounting for 10-15% of the total, indicating sustained consumption of goat meat.

Kyrgyzstan's goat meat production experienced a two-year period of growth before declining. In 2019, production reached its peak at 10 008 tonnes, marking a 0.7% increase from the previous year. However, by 2020, output had fallen to 9 835 tonnes, representing a 1.7% decrease compared to 2019.
