Following two consecutive years of decline, Central Asia's goat meat production rebounded in 2020. The region produced 40 770 tonnes of goat meat that year, marking a 1.0% increase from 2019. Over the broader 2017-2020 period, production fell by 5.9%, translating to an average annual decline of 2.0%. The lowest production level was observed in 2019 at 40 372 tonnes, which also saw the steepest year-on-year drop of 6.5%.
