Production gingerbread in Latvia

Latvia's gingerbread production has grown for the second consecutive year. In 2021, the output value stood at 5 631 thousand US dollars, marking an 8.2% decrease from the previous year. Looking at the period from 2018 to 2021, production increased by 13.4%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 4.3%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 4 556 thousand US dollars, with the largest decline of 8.2% occurring that same year. In contrast, the most significant increase of 16.3% was observed in 2020.

After two years of growth, Latvia's gingerbread export volumes declined in 2021, reaching 1 949 tonnes, which is a 7.1% drop from 2020. Over the period from 2018 to 2021, exports increased by 26.5%, averaging an annual growth rate of 8.2%. The peak volume was recorded in 2020 at 2 097 tonnes, with the largest increase of 26.0% also occurring that year.

From 2018 to 2021, Lithuania, Estonia, and Germany were the main destinations for Latvia's gingerbread exports in volume terms.
