Earlier Report Observations

The garlic market in the Caribbean showed considerable volatility between 2018 and 2023. Total market volume started at 51 935 t in 2018, dipped slightly over the next two years, then contracted sharply to 44 588 t in 2021 before rebounding to 51 746 t by 2023.

This movement was closely tied to changes in domestic production, which fell from 22 369 t in 2019 to just 14 024 t in 2021, a drop of over 37%. Imports also varied, peaking at 35 313 t in 2020 but declining in subsequent years, which amplified the market contraction in 2021.
