This expansion was primarily supported by the Agriculture Policy 2016, which encouraged high-value livestock output, and the steady development of the private feed industry where poultry feed represented 70% of total demand. Ongoing government training programs on animal husbandry and health, initiated in the 2017-2018 period, helped enhance farm productivity and meat quality.

After several years of increase, production stabilized at approximately 63 000 t in 2023. The market faced headwinds from a perceptible decrease in consumption and trade disruptions, including health alerts and restrictions following reports of illegal exports of duck meat products to the United States. While global innovations in cultivated duck meat emerged in 2022, local market volume plateaued as these external factors coincided with softer domestic demand.

However, over the entire 2017-2020 period, production fell by 61.4%, which translates to an average annual decline of 27.2%. The lowest output was in 2018 at 45.5 K t. That year also saw the steepest drop of 67.9%, while the biggest gain occurred in 2019 with a 12.2% rise.
