Earlier Report Observations

The fluorspar market in CIS began the period at 300 thousand tons in 2018, supported by steady imports from suppliers in Mongolia and Germany. However, the market contracted to 268 thousand tons in 2019 as both domestic production and imports declined. The following year, market volume stabilized at 267 thousand tons, with the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting global supply chains and affecting import flows into the region.

A sharp recovery occurred in 2021, with market size jumping to 313 thousand tons driven by a surge in domestic production to 146 thousand tons. This expansion was short-lived, as the market fell back to 271 thousand tons in 2022 after geopolitical sanctions and instability impacted import channels and led to a drop in output.

In the subsequent years, import volumes continued to ease, reaching 176 thousand tons in 2024, while exports also tapered off. Sanctions remained a persistent factor reshaping supply chains and encouraging a greater reliance on domestic production sources.
