The market for edible brassicas in Belarus grew to 405 thousand tonnes in 2019, driven by the government's import substitution policy and state investments in modern vegetable storage facilities and greenhouses. These measures increased domestic production by 32 thousand tonnes and reduced reliance on imported supplies.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 disrupted logistics and altered consumer demand toward longer-storing vegetables, leading to a market contraction to 358 thousand tonnes. Subsequent state support for greenhouse farming and production modernization facilitated a recovery to 371 thousand tonnes in 2021. The market then stabilized around 366-370 thousand tonnes in 2022-2023 amid tighter price and quality controls, culminating in the introduction of retail price caps for fresh vegetables in late 2024.

Continuous development of greenhouse infrastructure and the breeding of new locally adapted varieties strengthened domestic production capacity throughout the period. New packaging standards, traceability requirements, and growing consumer interest in local and organic produce further shaped the market's evolution.

From 2017 to 2020, exports decreased by 68.2%, with a compound annual growth rate of 31.7%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 11 992 t, which also saw the largest decline of 66.3%.
