The market for alliaceous vegetables in Belarus began the period at 235.5 thousand tons in 2018, benefiting from the sector's priority status in agriculture and simplified sales regulations at open markets that enhanced consumer access. A contraction to 224.3 thousand tons followed in 2019. Recovery came in 2020, with the market reaching 247.1 thousand tons, driven by state support for farmers through subsidies and investments, alongside targeted production planning for both local and export needs.

Growth resumed in 2021 as the market expanded to 252.9 thousand tons, supported by the introduction of profitability norms for setting vegetable prices, which stabilized pricing and encouraged producers. Further advancement occurred in 2022, with volume climbing to 268.2 thousand tons, fueled by continued development of greenhouse production and market mechanisms. By 2023, the market stabilized at 266.8 thousand tons, coinciding with state-imposed maximum price caps on vegetables and fruits to protect consumers, coupled with increased output from protected-ground facilities.

In 2024, regulatory changes shaped the landscape: Decree No. 713 tightened price-control enforcement on vegetables including onions, while simplified market-sale rules eased trade for producers and sellers. Simultaneously, the entry of major importer FrutPoint LLC diversified supply and broadened the assortment of fresh vegetables available on the Belarusian market.

After a two-year decline, alliaceous vegetable production in Belarus increased in 2020. That year, Belarus produced 233.1 thousand tons of alliaceous vegetables, marking an 8.6% rise compared to 2019. However, looking at the broader period from 2017 to 2020, production fell by 17.1%, which translates to an average annual decrease of 6.1%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2019 at 214.7 thousand tons, with the sharpest year-on-year drop occurring in 2018 at 16.8%.

Following a two-year decrease, the value of alliaceous vegetable production in Belarus rose in 2020. In that year, output was valued at 47 706 thousand US dollars, representing a 22.9% increase over 2019. Over the four-year span from 2017 to 2020, however, production value declined by 23.4%, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of -8.5%. The minimum value was observed in 2019 at 38 824 thousand US dollars, and the largest year-on-year decline occurred that same year at 30.8%.

From 2017 to 2020, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine were consistently the main destinations for Belarusian alliaceous vegetable exports in volume terms. Poland accounted for 31.6% of exports, Russia for 27.7%, and Ukraine for 24.1%, together making up 83.4% of total export flows.
