Earlier Report Observations

The Russian market for dried shelled legumes expanded substantially from 2018 to 2022, with volume growing by over 2 000 thousand tonnes to reach 7 285 thousand tonnes. This growth was underpinned by a significant increase in domestic production, which rose by more than 2 300 thousand tonnes during this period.

Export shipments more than doubled between 2018 and 2023, while import volumes remained low and continued to decline. The market contraction in 2023 to 5 717 thousand tonnes coincided with a sharp rise in exports to over 3 200 thousand tonnes, which offset stable production levels.
