Earlier Report Observations
The market for provisionally preserved vegetables in Russia opened at 66 055 т in 2018, supported by the emergence of new product segments for short-term storage and a strong raw material base. After a drop to 50 182 т in 2019, demand rebounded in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic increased consumer interest in long-shelf-life products, lifting the market to 58 933 т. A surge to 95 098 т followed in 2021, driven by increased investment in new production facilities and the beginning of tighter labeling regulations.
In 2022, the market volume fell sharply to 54 400 т as EU sanctions and logistical difficulties constrained import supplies, despite state subsidies for vegetable processors that helped maintain domestic production. The market then dipped to 51 524 т in 2023.
By 2024, the market recovered to 65 799 т, nearly matching the 2018 level, fueled by the continued expansion of the short-term preservation segment and stricter packaging and labeling controls.
