From 2018 to 2023, the market volume for dried shelled legumes in Gabon fell sharply from 1 820 t to 986 t. Collaboration with the FAO from 2020 aimed to improve post-harvest management, while by 2023, poor road infrastructure was identified as a key logistical challenge affecting product distribution.

The policy direction continued into 2024, with the government reorganizing agricultural bodies and signing a new agreement with the FAO to strengthen market information systems, underscoring the ongoing push for greater self-sufficiency in the legume sector.
