This growth trend reversed in 2022, as market volume contracted to 218.4 t and production fell to 217.9 t. The decline continued more sharply in 2023, with the market returning to a volume of 196.1 t and production dropping to 195.6 t, effectively erasing the gains accumulated since 2018.

Dried mushroom production in Azerbaijan grew for the third consecutive year. In 2021, the country produced 226.5 tons of dried mushrooms, marking a 1.7% increase from the previous year. Over the 2018–2021 period, production rose by 16.1%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 5.1%.

The lowest import volume was recorded in 2020 at 313 kg, with the sharpest drop occurring that same year at 62.4%.

Dried mushroom imports into Azerbaijan by value declined for the second year in a row. In 2021, Azerbaijan imported a total of 5 576 US dollars worth of dried mushrooms, representing a 15.1% decrease from the previous year. Over the 2018–2021 period, imports dropped by 52.5%, with an average annual decline of 22.0%. The highest import value was recorded in 2019 at 15 246 US dollars, which also saw the largest increase of 29.9%. The most significant decrease occurred in 2020, with a 56.9% drop.
