Azerbaijan's production of onions and shallots has grown for the third year in a row. In 2021, the country produced 286.4 thousand tons, showing a modest increase of 4.2% compared to 2020. Exports onions and shallots from Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan's exports of onions and shallots have fallen for the third consecutive year. In 2021, exports totaled 13 771 tons, representing a significant drop of 19.9% from the previous year. Over the 2018-2021 period, exports declined by 66.2%, with a compound annual growth rate of -30.3%.

From 2018 to 2021, Georgia, Russia, and Ukraine were the primary markets for Azerbaijan's onion and shallot exports in volume terms. Georgia accounted for 36.2% of exports, Russia for 31.7%, and Ukraine for 11.9%. Together, these three countries made up 79.8% of total export flows.

During 2018-2021, Russia, Georgia, and Ukraine were the top buyers of Azerbaijan's onions and shallots in value terms. Russia led with 52.7% of export value, followed by Georgia at 23.0%, and Ukraine at 8.6%. Collectively, these three markets represented 84.2% of total export value.
