Earlier Report Observations

The desiccated coconut market in Oceania contracted significantly from 2018 to 2023, with total market volume falling from approximately 75.6 thousand tons to 36.4 thousand tons. Domestic production dropped even more sharply, from 62.9 thousand tons to 25.2 thousand tons over this period, while import volumes remained relatively steady at around 11–12 thousand tons per year.

By 2024, several factors were shaping the market environment, including rising demand from bakery and pastry segments in Australia, global supply disruptions due to typhoons in the Philippines and droughts in Indonesia that increased price volatility, and a growing consumer preference for organic and natural products. New players entered the market focusing on organic offerings and eco-friendly packaging, supported by evolving distribution channels and trends like vegan and gluten-free diets.
