In 2022, the production growth coincided with a significant rise in Hungary's exports of monumental and construction stone, where the export value for stone blocks and slabs increased by 54%. This stronger external demand for processed stone products stimulated the extraction of raw marble and travertine. The market volume then moderated in 2023, declining by 5.3% to 82 947 tonnes.
