The recovery from 2020 to 2022 was driven by increased demand from major infrastructure projects funded through the EU's Recovery and Resilience Facility (PNRR), which boosted construction activity and the need for building materials like marble and travertine.

The market contraction in 2023 and 2024 coincided with a drop in residential building permits, reducing demand, and rising raw material and logistics costs, which led to supply difficulties and higher prices, further dampening market volume.
