Corn oil production in Tanzania expanded consistently from 26 тыс. т in 2018 to 35 тыс. т in 2020. This initial growth was fueled by record maize yields in 2018, achieved through the adoption of modern agricultural techniques and improved seed varieties, which supplied abundant raw material for processing. Simultaneously, the government's focus on increasing domestic edible oil production and promoting agro-processing to add value to maize encouraged investment in maize oil extraction.

The upward trend continued, with production rising to 42 тыс. т by 2023. Government subsidies on fertilizers supported maize cultivation, providing a steady supply of raw material. Urbanization drove consumer preferences towards processed maize products, including oil, boosting demand. A bumper maize harvest in 2023 resulted in surplus raw material for processing, while food safety initiatives like aflatoxin reduction enhanced the quality of maize used for oil production.
