The copra market in El Salvador experienced a severe contraction between 2018 and 2020, with volume dropping from 3 475 tonnes to just 1 694 tonnes. This represented a decline of more than 50% over the two-year period.

A recovery phase began in 2021, as market volume increased steadily over the next three years. By 2023, production had reached 2 188 tonnes, though it remained well below the 2018 peak.

El Salvador's copra production declined for the second year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 1,694 tonnes of copra, marking a sharp 21.9% drop from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, production fell by 51.2%, with an average annual decline of 21.3%. The highest output was recorded in 2018 at 3,475 tonnes. The most significant decrease occurred in 2019, when production plunged by 37.6%. The only increase during this timeframe was a marginal 0.1% rise in 2018.
