In 2023, the market contracted to 181.1 million US dollars, coinciding with a 30.5% downturn in the broader European parquet market and persistent challenges such as raw material shortages, inflation, and the energy crisis. The following year brought a recovery to 194.3 million US dollars, accompanied by the publication of the updated UNE EN 13489:2023 technical standard for wood flooring and multilayer parquet elements, which raised quality benchmarks for the sector.

In 2020, continuously shaped wood shipments from Spain to abroad totalled 28 633 cubic metres, marking a strong rise of 25.0% compared with 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports increased by 31.9%, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.7%. The largest decline was recorded in 2019 at 1.6%.

From 2017 to 2020, France, Portugal, and Italy led the structure of exports in kind, accounting for 32.1%, 20.8%, and 10.0% of exports, respectively. Together, they represented 62.9% of total flows.

Foreign continuously shaped wood supplies from Spain declined for the second consecutive year. In 2020, exports totalled 43 815 thousand US dollars, marking a strong decline of 10.9% over the past year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports decreased by 9%, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of -3.1%. The maximum value was recorded in 2018 at 54 036 thousand US dollars, which also saw the largest increase of 12.3%.

The minimum value was recorded in 2018 at 38 672 cubic metres, which also saw the largest decline of 0.1%.
