Legislative adjustments related to sanctions affected raw material availability, incentivizing greater localization of supply chains. In 2023, tightened labeling and certification requirements contributed to improved product quality and market transparency.

In 2024, production surged to 1 463 thousand m³ and market volume reached 1 286 thousand m³. This sharp rise was fueled by persistent import restrictions, which reinforced reliance on domestic timber, alongside growing internal demand for eco-friendly flooring. The introduction of new environmental and safety standards, coupled with the development of the designer and premium parquet segment, reflected evolving consumer preferences. In 2025, production slightly decreased to 1 398 thousand m³, maintaining a high level.

Russia's exports of continuously shaped wood have expanded for the third consecutive year. In 2021, shipments abroad totaled 444.4 K m³, reflecting a robust 23.5% increase compared to 2020. Over the 2018-2021 period, exports grew by 72%, with a compound annual growth rate of 19.8%.

The export structure for continuously shaped wood from 2018 to 2021 shows a diverse range of trading partners. Kazakhstan accounted for 12.2% of exports in kind, Romania for 6.8%, and the United States for 6.8%, together making up 25.8% of total flows. The remaining 74.2% was distributed among numerous smaller markets.

Russia's cross-border shipments of continuously shaped wood have increased for the third year running. In 2021, export value amounted to 225.5 M $ US, showing a significant 74.6% rise from the year before. From 2018 to 2021, exports surged by 130%, with a compound annual growth rate of 32.0%.

From 2018 to 2021, the United States, Romania, and Poland were the largest buyers of continuously shaped wood from Russia in value terms, contributing 9.5%, 9.3%, and 8.1% of exports, respectively. However, their combined share was limited to 26.8% of total export value, indicating a diversified country structure.

Imports continuously shaped wood to Russia

After a two-year decline, Russia's imports of continuously shaped wood rebounded in 2021. Import volume reached 9.6 K m³, up 7.0% from 2020. Over the 2018-2021 period, imports fell by 24.9%, with a compound annual decline of 9.1%. The lowest point was in 2020 at 8.9 K m³, following the largest drop of 27.8% that year.

From 2018 to 2021, Belarus, Finland, and China were the top suppliers of continuously shaped wood to Russia in volume terms. Belarus accounted for 42.5% of imports in kind, Finland for 12.7%, and China for 12.1%, together representing 67.3% of total imports.
