The market volume fell sharply to 89.8 million USD in 2023. Scheduled for 2025 are several regulatory shifts, including the implementation of the EU Construction Products Regulation and updated waste management rules, which will introduce new documentation and environmental requirements for wood products. Continuously shaped wood exports from Norway increased for the second consecutive year. In 2021, exports totaled 15 755 cubic meters, marking an 18.9% year-over-year growth. Over the 2018-2021 period, exports rose by 28.2%, with a compound annual growth rate of 8.6%. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2019 at 11 640 cubic meters, when exports declined by 5.3%.

From 2018 to 2021, Sweden, Germany, and Denmark remained the top buyers of continuously shaped wood from Norway. Sweden accounted for 57.9% of exports in volume, Germany for 12.4%, and Denmark for 10.6%. Together, these three countries represented 80.9% of total exports in kind.

After a two-year decline, Norway's cross-border shipments of continuously shaped wood increased. In 2021, exports reached 21.5 million US dollars, showing a dramatic 59.5% rise compared to 2020.
