Earlier Report Observations

The market for concentrated sweetened milk and cream in Kyrgyzstan expanded significantly in 2019, reaching 38 882 t, a 22% increase from the previous year. This growth was supported by a sustained rise in domestic raw milk production beginning in 2018, which increased the availability of key raw materials for processors. However, market volume contracted sharply in 2020 to 22 559 t.

The market stabilized near 22 200 t in 2021, coinciding with the introduction of mandatory EAEU labeling requirements for milk and cream products from January of that year. A strong recovery followed in 2022, with market volume rising 22% to 27 112 t. This turnaround was primarily driven by the launch of the new 'Nukura Pro' processing plant, which added substantial monthly capacity, and the establishment of the state-backed 'Kyrgyzindustry' holding aimed at developing the dairy sector.

In 2023, market volume grew slightly to 27 350 t, while exports surged to 1 225 t from just 55 t the previous year. This export boom was fueled by increased shipments to EAEU countries and China, supported by ongoing investments in large-scale processing and stricter quality controls to meet international standards.
