Earlier Report Observations

In 2018, the Polish concentrated milk and cream market reached 78 212 t, supported by the overall growth of the dairy sector where Poland emerged as a leader in increased production of cheese, drinking milk, and cream. The market volume then contracted to 58 747 t in 2019 before recovering to 74 058 t in 2020.

Market size expanded to 80 962 t in 2021, a period when the total value of sold dairy production in Poland exceeded PLN 37 billion, indicating a robust dairy industry. The following year, however, saw a decline to 67 225 t, coinciding with a sharp increase of over 50% in global butter and skimmed milk powder prices due to worldwide demand and low stocks, which raised raw material costs and likely constrained imports. New dairy product labeling rules and the entry into force of the organic production regulation (EU 2018/848) also introduced additional compliance factors in 2022.

By 2023, the market grew again to 76 548 t. This recovery was aided by product innovation investments from major players like Mlekovita and Mlekpol, as well as rising consumer interest in high-protein and functional dairy products, for which concentrated milk serves as a key ingredient.
