Global factors such as droughts and rising raw milk prices, noted in regional contexts, may have further supported domestic production by increasing import costs.

From 2022, imports began to recover, reaching 576 tons in 2024, coinciding with the entry of new producers in neighboring markets and stabilization of supply chains. Tajikistan's growing average wages in 2024 also contributed to stronger domestic demand, aiding market expansion.
