The volume of the coconut market in Bangladesh contracted over the period from 2018 to 2023, falling from 469 thousand tons to 409 thousand tons. This overall decline was interrupted by a brief stabilization in 2020 and a modest recovery in 2022, though the market did not return to its earlier levels.

Domestic production followed a similar downward trend, decreasing from 467 thousand tons to 404 thousand tons. In contrast, import volumes more than doubled from 2.3 thousand tons to 5.0 thousand tons by 2023, indicating a growing reliance on foreign supply to meet local demand, though imports remained a small fraction of total market volume.

The most pronounced reductions in market size occurred in 2019 and 2021, while the interim year of 2022 saw a slight expansion before another dip in 2023.
