Between 2018 and 2023, the Indonesian market volume for coconuts, Brazil nuts and cashews showed notable fluctuations. Starting at 16 497 thousand metric tons in 2018, it dipped to 15 870 thousand metric tons in 2020, then recovered strongly to 17 422 thousand metric tons by 2022 before a slight moderation to 17 213 thousand metric tons in 2023.

A key development in the latter part of the period was the expansion of exports, which rose to 907 thousand metric tons in 2023. This growth was supported by local small and medium enterprises like Gado-Gado Boplo successfully entering international markets with instant seasoning products based on cashew nuts, aided by digitalization and product innovation refined during the pandemic years.

In value terms, the market reached $9.5 billion in 2021 but then contracted significantly to $6.3 billion by 2023, reflecting a broad decline in unit prices for these commodities over the final years of the observed period.

After a two-year decline, Indonesia's production of coconuts, Brazil nuts, and cashews rebounded in 2021. The country produced 18,266 thousand tonnes that year, marking a 7.7% increase compared to 2020. Over the period from 2018 to 2021, production grew by 5.9%, which translates to an annualized growth rate of 1.9%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2020 at 16,966 thousand tonnes, with the largest decline of 1.1% occurring that same year.

Output was valued at 9,999 million US dollars, representing a significant 19.4% increase from the previous year.
