Coconut oilcake production in Thailand rose from 15 454 t in 2018 to 18 500 t in 2023, supported by multiple domestic coconut oil producers focusing on organic inputs and innovative extraction. The country's hot and humid climate provided ideal conditions for coconut cultivation, ensuring a steady supply of raw material for oil and consequent cake output.

A 30.55% drop in U.S. imports of coconut oil in early 2019 coincided with a sharp decline in Thailand's oilcake exports, which fell from 683 t to 28 t. However, the market adapted through segmentation of export products, and domestic production continued to expand. By 2023, Thailand's coconut exports reached a value of $288.04 million, reflecting sustained external demand.

New export opportunities emerged in 2023, highlighted by a case study exploring the shipment of cold-pressed coconut oil to Russia by Tropicana Oil Co., Ltd. This initiative pointed to potential new channels for Thai coconut products, which could further support oil extraction and residue generation.
