Earlier Report Observations

The Austrian coaxial cable market volume grew to 11 988 t in 2019, supported by Belden's launch of its REVConnect product line designed for quick installation and repairs, which stimulated demand. The acquisition of General Cable by Prysmian Group also altered the competitive landscape during this period. Market volume then contracted to 10 636 t in 2020.

Volume recovered to 12 233 t in 2021 and further to 12 911 t in 2022. The 2022 increase coincided with Junkosha's introduction of a new cable assembler for coaxial assemblies used in mobile communications and defense, alongside global demand drivers such as 5G network expansion and consumer electronics.

After decreasing to 9 821 t in 2023, the market volume fell sharply to 5 337 t in 2024. A key regulatory change effective July 1, 2024, prohibited landlords from passing cable TV costs to tenants, likely reducing demand for coaxial infrastructure in multi-unit buildings. Additionally, stricter EU environmental standards requiring at least 35% recycled plastics in cables introduced new compliance pressures.
