Earlier Report Observations

The Italian coaxial cable market experienced moderate growth from 2018 to 2020, with volume rising to 19 319 t in 2020. This expansion was supported by the introduction of the CPR regulation in July 2017, which established new fire safety standards for cables used in construction, stimulating demand for compliant products. The continued application of CEI standards for electrical installations provided a stable regulatory framework. However, in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily reduced economic activity, leading to a slight contraction in market volume.

A sharp upturn began in 2021, with market volume surging to 30 738 t that year and further to 34 443 t in 2022. This rapid growth was primarily driven by increased demand from the telecommunications sector, particularly due to 5G network deployment, as well as from the electric vehicle and renewable energy industries. Updated CEI standards for CPR cable designation and a growing focus on ESG principles along the supply chain further stimulated innovation and market expansion during this period.

Following the peak, the market corrected to 27 996 t in 2023 and declined to 19 991 t in 2024. This normalization after a period of strong growth coincided with industry development of specialized cables for electric mobility charging infrastructure and other smart city applications. While long-term drivers like the energy transition and digitalization remained relevant, the market adjusted to a more stable level of demand.
