The Venezuelan citrus fruit market saw production rise from 1 049 thousand tons in 2018 to 1 231 thousand tons in 2019, driven by the state's Gran Misión Agro-Venezuela and National Urban Agriculture Plan. These initiatives promoted urban and community farming to boost local food output, directly expanding citrus cultivation in response to domestic shortages and inflation.

After a decline in 2020, production recovered to 1 229 thousand tons by 2022. This rebound was supported by a broader near 20% increase in overall fruit production across the country, while the launch of Coca-Cola FEMSA's Del Valle Fresh citrus-flavored beverage created new demand for citrus fruits as raw materials in the beverage sector.

Production fell to 1 098 thousand tons in 2023, as high inflation and reduced consumer purchasing power constrained demand. Although government policies like urban agriculture support and a large-scale land agreement with Iran for fruit cultivation continued, economic pressures led to a contraction in market volume.

In 2020, Venezuela produced 1 157.2 thousand tons of citrus fruit, marking a modest 6.0% decline from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, production fell by 10%, averaging an annual decrease of 3.5%. The lowest output was recorded in 2018 at 1 049.5 thousand tons, which saw the steepest drop of 18.4%. In contrast, 2019 experienced the largest increase, with production rising by 17.3%.
