In 2022, abnormal weather conditions caused a significant production shortfall in Mediterranean regions, but Asia's market volume continued to grow, reaching 171.1 million tons.

The market demonstrated resilience with only minor fluctuations, such as stabilization around 158 million tons in 2020, before continuing its upward trajectory driven by sustained demand and robust global trade activity.
