Production chlorine in Russia

Russia's chlorine production declined for the second consecutive year. In 2021, production reached 424.7 K t, marking a slight decrease of 2.9% compared to 2020. Over the period from 2018 to 2021, production fell by 3%, with a compound annual growth rate of 1.0%. The highest production level was recorded in 2019 at 449.7 K t, which also saw the largest annual increase of 2.7%.

Exports chlorine from Russia

After two years of growth, Russia's chlorine exports declined in 2021. Exports amounted to 3 308 t, representing a 20.8% decrease year-over-year. From 2018 to 2021, exports overall increased by 80.8%, with a compound annual growth rate of 21.8%. The peak export volume was recorded in 2020 at 4 178 t, while the largest annual increase occurred in 2019 at 56.0%.

Between 2018 and 2021, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan emerged as the primary markets for Russia's chlorine exports in kind. Ukraine accounted for 37.7% of exports, Azerbaijan for 33.5%, and Kazakhstan for 16.6%. Together, these three countries represented 87.8% of total export flows.
