A reversal occurred in 2022 and 2023, as the market contracted to 22.2 million and then 15.2 million US dollars respectively. The decline in 2023 brought the market to its lowest point in the period, influenced by a sharp increase in exports and a dip in import values.

In 2024, the market rebounded strongly, reaching 24.8 million US dollars. This recovery was supported by a notable rise in imports and a significant drop in exports, even as domestic production decreased.

In 2020, Croatia exported 4 929 tonnes of central heating boilers, a significant 15.5% drop compared to the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports fell by 17.3%, with an average annual decline of 6.1%. The only increase during this time was in 2019, at 1.3%.

From 2017 to 2020, the main destinations for Croatia's central heating boiler exports by volume were Serbia (19.9% of exports), Bosnia and Herzegovina (19.2%), and Italy (15.7%). Together, these three countries accounted for 54.9% of total export flows.

Between 2017 and 2020, export value grew by 31.4%, averaging 9.5% per year. The largest decline occurred in 2019 at 1.4%, while the biggest gain was in 2018 at 18.5%.

Croatia's imports of central heating boilers by volume declined for the second consecutive year. In 2020, imports stood at 2 498 tonnes, a slight 1.1% decrease from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, import volume fell by 10.6%, with an average annual drop of 3.7%. The peak was in 2018 at 3 079 tonnes, with the largest decline in 2019 at 18.0% and the biggest increase in 2018 at 10.1%.

From 2017 to 2020, Slovakia (26.4% of import volume), Czechia (26.1%), and Slovenia (11.9%) were the key sources for Croatia's central heating boiler imports. Combined, these three countries made up 64.5% of total import flows.
