The market for fresh or chilled cauliflowers and broccoli in the Caribbean demonstrated substantial growth over the 2018-2023 period, with total volume increasing from 12 406 tonnes to 16 774 tonnes. This represents an overall expansion of more than 35%, indicating a rising consumption base for these vegetables in the region. The growth trajectory was not entirely smooth, as a minor contraction occurred in 2020 before resuming an upward trend that accelerated in the latter years.

Domestic production played a key role in driving market expansion, rising by nearly 50% from 7 010 tonnes to 10 410 tonnes over the same six years. Imports also contributed to supply, growing from 5 454 tonnes to 6 373 tonnes, though at a slower pace. With exports remaining negligible, the combined effect of increased local output and imported volumes supported the consistent enlargement of the market available to Caribbean consumers.

The difference between these peak and trough years was 2.8-fold. The largest decline occurred in 2019, when exports fell by 53.0%.

From 2017 to 2020, the United States was the primary destination for Caribbean cauliflowers and broccoli exports, accounting for 46.6% of total export volume. Germany followed with 7.1%, and Bunkers with 3.5%. Together, these three markets represented 57.1% of all Caribbean exports in this category.
