Earlier Report Observations

The market value of cationic surfactants in Poland fluctuated between 2018 and 2024, starting at $9.7 million in 2018, peaking at $11.1 million in 2019, then declining to $8.2 million in 2020. A partial recovery to $8.5 million followed in 2021, before a notable rebound lifted the market value to $11.6 million by 2024.

In physical terms, however, the market volume contracted sharply over the same period. After reaching 7.7 thousand tonnes in 2019, consumption fell to 6.0 thousand tonnes in 2020 and collapsed to just 0.7 thousand tonnes by 2024. This divergence between rising value and shrinking volume points to a significant increase in average unit prices.

Underlying these trends were substantial changes in trade and domestic output. Polish production steadily declined from 2.9 thousand tonnes in 2019 to 0.6 thousand tonnes in 2024, while imports rebounded to 6.1 thousand tonnes in 2024 after a mid-period dip. Exports surged, reaching 6.0 thousand tonnes in 2024, indicating a shift toward trade-oriented activity.
