In 2021, market volume dropped by 19% to 18 997 tons, primarily due to disruptions in supply chains and production caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. A partial recovery followed in 2022, with volume rising to 20 004 tons as the easing of pandemic restrictions boosted retail turnover and consumer demand, supported by the maintained reduced VAT rate of 5% on fresh vegetables.

The market contracted sharply again in 2023, falling by 19% to 16 171 tons.
