Earlier Report Observations

The Swiss cabbage market volume exhibited significant fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. After a decline from 48 860 t in 2018 to 45 696 t in 2019, consumption rebounded sharply to a peak of 51 214 t in 2020. The market then entered a period of sustained contraction, falling to 48 767 t in 2021, 45 538 t in 2022, and 41 599 t in 2023.

Domestic production followed a volatile trajectory, dropping notably to 23 480 t in 2021 before recovering to 34 841 t in 2022. Meanwhile, import volumes rose steadily to a high of 25 288 t in 2021, but subsequently collapsed, reaching only 8 904 t by 2023. This drastic reduction in imports was a key component of the overall market shrinkage observed in the latter part of the period.
