From 2018 to 2019, the cabbage market volume in Belarus expanded from 355 thousand tons to 404 thousand tons. This growth was supported by a shift in consumer preferences towards healthier diets and rising average wages, which boosted demand for vegetables including cabbage. However, in 2020 the market contracted to 357 thousand tons, reflecting broader economic adjustments.

After recovering to 371 thousand tons in 2021, the market stabilized around 367 thousand tons in 2022. During this period, the government introduced maximum price regulations for vegetables and sanctions restricted imports of Western fruits and vegetables, tightening supply. In 2023, the market volume declined to 349 thousand tons amid continued price controls and seasonal price fluctuations.
