Earlier Report Observations

The Czech beet molasses market exhibited considerable volatility in physical volume between 2018 and 2024. After a notable peak of 177.6 thousand tonnes in 2019, market size contracted to 119.2 thousand tonnes in 2020 and further to 92.4 thousand tonnes in 2021. This was followed by a recovery to 116.0 thousand tonnes in 2022, a modest decline to 106.0 thousand tonnes in 2023, and a substantial rebound to 141.8 thousand tonnes by 2024, nearly returning to the initial 2018 level of 141.2 thousand tonnes.

Domestic production closely mirrored this pattern, rising from 90.6 thousand tonnes in 2018 to 114.9 thousand tonnes in 2019 before declining sharply to 75.5 thousand tonnes in 2020. Output remained subdued in 2021 at 73.6 thousand tonnes, recovered to 90.2 thousand tonnes in 2022, fell again to 70.5 thousand tonnes in 2023, and surged to 105.8 thousand tonnes in 2024. Trade flows also varied significantly, with imports falling from 71.5 thousand tonnes in 2019 to a low of 28.3 thousand tonnes in 2021 before gradually increasing in subsequent years.

In monetary terms, the market value told a different story, rising from $15.9 million in 2018 to $24.2 million in 2023 despite the volume fluctuations observed over the period. The market value then moderated to $18.9 million in 2024.
