After a two-year decline, Armenia's beef and buffalo meat production volume increased. In 2020, Armenia produced 68 300 tons of beef and buffalo meat, which remained virtually unchanged from 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, production decreased by 3.5%, equating to an annualized decline of 1.2%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2019 at 68 100 tons, while the largest year-over-year decline occurred in 2018 at 2.8%.

From 2017 to 2020, Russia was the almost exclusive buyer of beef and buffalo meat from Armenia, accounting for 97.9% of total exports in volume terms.

From 2017 to 2020, India, Ukraine, and Brazil were the main sources of beef and buffalo meat imports to Armenia, together accounting for 94.4% of total imports in volume terms. India led with 49.8%, followed by Ukraine at 29.2%, and Brazil at 15.3%.
